VALUE-BASED COMMUNICATION – learning lab

3 November 2022 @ 2:00 pm5:00 pm CET

45,00€ – 60,00€

Date: 3 November
Time: 2-5pm CET
Where: Zoom
Language: English

Communication is key. In many ways. Your words, your look, your message will serve your case and your vision. Communication can help you internally, working as a team, with volunteers or winning and binding supporters and founders. External communication is your voice into the wild world. With the right knowledge, tools and experts, you can reach out to your friends, to your town fellows up to people all over the world. Especially for non-profit organizations or initiatives, communication can be a very powerful tool, as well as one of the biggest challenges.

How to tell your story? How to set the message right? What does it take to build up a communication strategy and how to use effective tools and methods? We will mix basic and handy knowledge of communication theory, a set of tools you can use for your communication, and we will learn from each other by sharing our successes and failures. As communication is for each and every project quite specific, we will try to work on your individual challenges and questions.
We will focus on your initiatives/ organizations’ vision and strategy. We will share and learn very practical communication tools and actions. We will discuss target groups, press releases, outreach to the media and participants, words, and writing, and how to tell your story and how to inspire people.
We will work with your examples, your insights, your success stories, and failures. Methods and tools and a bit of theory will be added to the practical exchange.
We would advise to bring your team member, volunteer or supporter who are involved in communication processes in your organization. They are very welcome to join and share their insights and knowledge and questions.

The learning lab covers:

  •  an understanding of the connection between your vision and strategy and your communication (goals)
  • an understanding of internal and external communication
  • an idea on how to reach out to your target group
  • an idea about words and writing
  • knowledge about practical tools, methods, and actions
  • framework of a press release
  • insights on how to reach the press

You will experience:

  • peer-to-peer learning
  • time for your specific questions
  • a good balance between theory and practice

The learning lab is for you if:

  •  you are involved in communications or strategy
  •  you are involved in internal and/or external communications

This learning lab is implemented in collaboration with the Civic Europe program and co-funded by the Stiftung Mercator.
